Golden peaks of Nanda Devi under the morning sun, the same breathtaking view that Sir Jim Corbett would have seen when he visited Mukteshwar more than 100 years back. In those times of year (1909-10), a famous man-eating tigress roamed the jungles of Mukteshwar and killed hapless villagers. Sir Jim Corbett was requested by the Indian Veterinary Research Institute to come and kill the tigress. The IVRI and the PWD guest house where he stayed would transport anyone back to the times when the vast jungles around Mukteshwar were still inhabited by tigers.
